‘We are pleased to announce that from January 2018, The Independent School (TIS) will be combining with The Moat School, at their site near Bishop’s Park, Fulham. The combination of the two schools’ provisions and expertise will have a very positive outcome for all.
The Moat is an outstanding school catering for pupils aged 9-16 years old with dyslexia, dyspraxia and other SpLD. It shares the TIS vision that all children can achieve regardless of perceived barriers to learning.
The combined school benefits from some wonderful outdoor space, a state of the art curriculum, specially trained staff and therapy teams and access to larger peer groups for the social benefit of all our pupils. Class sizes will remain small and dedicated to helping our pupils achieve.
Between September and January, there will be a transition period where there will be many opportunities for existing TIS pupils to visit and integrate with The Moat School pupils, including enrichment activities, joint school trips and lessons. Similarly there will be opportunities for staff from both schools to meet, share best practice and ideas, and formulate a plan for successful team working.
For new and prospective parental enquiries, post-September 2017, it is essential that you contact The Moat School on 020 7610 9018, in order to view the facilities there, meet the admissions/teaching staff, or to book a place on their open days, dates of which are listed below:
Thursday 5th October
Saturday 7th October
If you have any questions relating to existing TIS matters, please do not hesitate to contact myself or my Head of SEN, Jessica Narowlansky.
The mission of The Independent School is to prepare every student, regardless of learning style, with the skills they need to fulfil their potential at GCSE and beyond.
As reflected in our core principles, we feel passionately that every student is entitled to a rigorous and inspiring learning environment, with teaching tailored to how they learn best.
The Independent School welcomes those with mild specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspraxia, together with those who perform better in a more individualised environment, as we believe that learning differences should never been seen as a barrier to academic success.
We are a small, co-educational, independent, secondary school for students aged 11-16. We provide an all-inclusive education, designed to remove the need for supplementary learning or tuition outside of the school day.
